About Wyoming County

Quality of Life

Life in Wyoming County is living the good life in the country with convenient access to big-city extras. It's refreshing. Relaxed while being productive. Full of friendly people enjoying the comfortable pace of rural life.

Outdoor Activities are among the favorites: swimming, sailing, hunting, camping, fishing (some of the best trout fishing in the State!), rafting, snowmobiling, skiing, golf, nature centers, and of course, Letchworth State Park, known as the Grand Canyon of the East. It's spectacular every season!

Arts and Culture: The County boasts 10 museums and four art galleries. Here you can say goodbye to those long lines of the big city attractions and enjoy the charming historical lore that's user-friendly to visitors of all ages. Festivals from arts and crafts to historic re-enactments and our famous fall Apple Umpkin Festival provide excitement throughout the year.

Housing: Do you love older homes with character? Or prefer something new? One of the best-kept secrets in Western New York is our housing of both descriptions. It gets even better in Wyoming County where the average price of a single family home is less than $70-$80,000.

Healthcare: Wyoming County has access to both local and regional healthcare systems, newly reorganized to provide even lower costs for excellent local care. Medical facilities include Wyoming County Community Hospital, a modern 250-bed facility with a staff of 104 physicians. Specialized services include cardiac rehabilitation, physical and occupational therapy, respiratory therapy and a pediatric clinic. An extensive network of hospitals and medical facilities is also available in Buffal and Rochester.

Regional Sports and Attractions: Our close proximity to Buffalo and Rochester offers residents a wide variety of social, cultural and commercial activities including additional art galleries, museums, theaters, music halls, philharmonic orchestras, shopping malls and restaurants. Sports fans enjoy major league teams like the NFL's Buffalo Bills and the NHL's Buffalo Sabres as well as Triple A baseball.

Low Crime: It's hard to imagine today that communities exist where people feel it's unnecessary to lock their doors. What can we say, other than "Welcome to Wyoming County!"
